NIRVANA ORTANEZ WINS BEST TRICK AT BOARDFEST 07

Wrightwood, CA. – September 7, 2007: Boardfest, the all-girls sports festival in Huntington Beach, CA, saw action from top females in surf, skate, and snow this Labor Day Weekend. Mountain High team rider, Nirvana Ortanez, took Best Trick during the Jeep Snow Zone portion of the event. On over 40 tons of snow was blown on the beach and pro athletes showcased their talents on a two-story structure featuring a 26-foot fun box and a mini quarterpipe to rail stall set-up.

Nirvana Ortanez said, ”The comp was really fun. It had a lively vibe and I was super stoked to be there.” Ortanez mentioned there were a large number of really solid female riders and the crowd on the Pier made the whole experience worth the unseasonably warm weather. The Mountain High team rider won with a switch backside 270 to 180 out on the fun box and a frontside stall to fakie on the quarterpipe. Boardfest is an all-girls action-sports, music and empowerment festival. Each year at the Huntington Beach Pier the festival features “Learn to Surf” clinics, live entertainment, and a free fun zone with rock climbing walls, mechanical surfboards, and other games. The festival also provides a venue for female surf, skate and snow competitors to showcase their talent and win some great prizes. Mountain High’s Faultline Terrain Park staff helped produce the Jeep Snow Zone. Justin Montoya and his crew shaped the 40 tons of snow required to host the three features they built which included a 26-foot fun box, a mini-quarterpipe, and a rail stall feature.
