EAST RESORT NOW OPEN TOP-TO-BOTTOM

Wrightwood, CA– December 14, 2007: Mountain High Resort in Wrightwood is proud to announce the opening of its East Resort today at 8:30am. The East Resort offers a traditional alpine experience with the longest trails in Southern California serviced by a single high-speed quad chairlift. It is also home to the Olympic Bowl, the longest, steepest bump run in the region. Though you can’t see it from the base area, the East Resort stretches 1.6 miles up into the mountains, culminating at a height of 8,200 feet. From this lofty elevation, guests can enjoy spectacular views of both Catalina Island to the South and the Mojave Desert to the North.

In addition to the bumps and powder runs, the East Resort offers a fun, family area at the top which encompasses roughly 20 acres and is serviced by its own quad chairlift. This mountain playground consists of three trails, Boardwalk, Catalina and Sunset, and offers scenic beginner terrain that is always uncrowded. It can be seen to the right as guests crest the top of the Mountain High Express chairlift.

Recent snowfalls combined with extensive snowmaking have made for mid-winter conditions that guests simply will not believe. Goldrush and Sunset are now open top-to-bottom and operating hours are 8:30am to 4:00pm on weekdays and 8:00am to 4:00pm on weekends and holidays. One ticket is good at both the East and West Resorts and free shuttles are waiting to take guests back and forth.

Mountain High is located in the San Gabriel Mountains, just 75 minutes from Los Angeles and Orange County. It is Southern California’s closet winter resort, and there is never any mountain driving. Well-maintained State Highways make the trip quick and safe, and chains are seldom required despite the area’s significant snowfall. If you are an alpine skier or carving snowboarder who likes long, sweeping turns and uncrowded slopes, Mountain High’s East Resort is for you. The terrain is unlike that of any other resort in Southern California, and you cannot beat the trees through Pier Shot on a powder day.
