MOUNTAIN HIGH'S $299 ANYTIME SEASON PASS SALE RETURNS AUGUST 27TH
Mountain High’s huge Anytime Season Pass Sale returns Friday, August 28th, through Sunday, October 31st. Prices are just $299 for adults and $129 for children ages 7 to 12. That’s less than the cost of five visits! Plus anyone who purchases their pass by September 6th will receive two free tickets good any day this season, non-holiday. A $130 value!  

RETRACTION - SUGAR BOWL NOT OPEN TO MOUNTAIN HIGH GUESTS
Sugar Bowl, a 35 acre area to the West of Mountain High’s West Resort, was inadvertently opened last year to skiers and snowboarders at Mountain High Resort. This region is not included Mountain High’s permitted terrain and was done so without the approval of the Angeles National Forest. Sugar Bowl will not be open for skiing and snowboarding this coming season and will be signed accordingly. 

DISC GOLF RETURNS TO MOUNTAIN HIGH
Disc Golf returns to Mountain High Resort in Wrightwood this Friday, June 19th. Established in 1999, this marks the course’s 10th year in operation.  

MOUNTAIN HIGH CELEBRATES ITS LONGEST, MOST FINANCIALLY REWARDING SEASON IN HISTORY
Mountain High’s 2009/10 season came to a close this Sunday, making it the longest in the resort’s history.  From opening day on October 29th to its late close on May 2nd, the winter lasted an incredible 186 days leaving Mountain High to be one of the last non-glacier resorts to close in United States. 

LINDA PINKOWSKI WINS 2010 4RUNNER IN MOUNTAIN HIGH'S ANNUAL TOYOTA GIVEAWAY
Linda Pinkowski, a Caregiver out of Northridge, CA, was recently named the grand prize winner in this year’s Toyota Sweepstakes at Mountain High Resort. A brand new 2010 Toyota 4Runner, courtesy of the Southern California Toyota Dealers Association (SCTDA), will be awarded to her later this month. This is the seventh year the SCTDA and Mountain High have teamed up to produce the sweepstakes and guests can enter to win a Toyota 4Runner of their very own next season at mthigh.com.



MOUNTAIN HIGH TO REMAIN OPEN UNTIL MAY 2ND

The season that wouldn’t end. Fresh snow continues to fall in Southern California and Mountain High now plans to remain open through May 2nd making this the longest season in its history. The Wrightwood Resort is now one of only a handful of areas open in the country and resort operators couldn’t be more excited about the extended season.

SCHOOL IS OUT. SPRING-A-MA-JIG IS IN!
Spring-A-Ma-Jig, Mountain High’s annual spring break celebration, begins this Saturday, March 27th, with terrific events like Pond Skimming and the Frozen T-Shirt Contest. The Dirty Heads will be performing live at 12pm. And the Miss Mountain High Bikini Contest begins at 1pm with guest judge and Mountain High team rider, Louie Vito.

TREVOR JACOB TAKES 1ST AT MOUNTAIN HIGH'S $25,000 CHOLULA TRIPLE AIR

The $25,000 Cholula Triple Air returned to Mountain High for its 12th straight year and Trevor Jacob put on a “saucy” display, impressing the judges with his 900s and switch variations.



$25,000 CHOLULA TRIPLE AIR RETURNS TO MOUNTAIN HIGH FOR 12TH SEASON

The $25,000 Cholula Triple Air returns to Mountain High this Saturday, February 20th, for its 12th straight season. First held in snowboarding’s method-grabbing heyday of 1998, the Triple Air has been bringing top-name riders to the region for 12 years and past participants include Shaun White, Chaz Guldemond, Kevin Pearce, and Keegan Valaika.



4 FEET OF NEW SNOW AND COUNTING AT MOUNTAIN HIGH

Recent storms which have caused so much trouble in the southland have dropped nothing but gold at Mountain High. White gold that is. Four feet of it. And it is still snowing. Snow showers began Sunday night and have only gotten heavier over the course of the week. Up to a foot and a half a day has been falling and the San Gabriel Mountains are now buried under the largest snowfall in recent memory.



2 FOR TUESDAY RETURNS TO MOUNTAIN HIGH

What’s better than two tickets to Southern California’s closest winter resort? Two tickets for the price of one! Mountain High is proud to announce the return of 2 For Tuesdays, an 11 week promotion designed to give guests a break from the high cost of skiing and snowboarding.


COLLEGE NIGHT RETURNS TO MOUNTAIN HIGH

College Night, Mountain High’s rocking college party, returns to the mountains this winter with DJs, vendors, ticket discounts, and rail jams. Now a series of six Thursday night events, College Night is a free and fun way to meet students from all over Southern California and party on the snow.



#3 OF VOLCOM'S NORTH AMERICAN PEANUT BUTTER AND RAIL JAM

The 3rd stop of the 2009/10 North American Peanut Butter and Rail Jam tour went off under the lights!
Competitors were excited about this event, as it would be the first evening affair of the season. While not being particularly warm, night events are always a good time because of the atmosphere and next-level riding.

MOUNTAIN HIGH NAMES VANS OFFICIAL TERRAIN PARK SPONSOR

Mountain High Resort in Wrightwood is proud to name Vans its official terrain park sponsor. Besides the traditional media plays and park branding, Vans will be an active participant in the resort producing on-hill events such as jib contests, product demos and team rider appearances. Also look for a signature Vans terrain feature in 2010.

3RD RAIL JAM BRINGS THE FUNK TO FIVE RESORTS ACROSS THE U.S.

Uniting some of the nation’s best amateur skiers and riders with the authentic, all
elements brand of the hip hop culture, the renowned 3rd Rail Jam is making the rounds again for 2010. Expanding the urban edge to five resorts across the nation, 3rd Rail will showcase some of the best in snow sports with a series of winner-takes all rail jams, slope side graffiti art, MC battles, hip hop music and more.


MOUNTAIN HIGH TO OFFER TRIKKE RENTALS

Mountain High is proud to offer Trikke (pronounced “trike”) rentals at its East Resort this season. Touted as a fun, new alternative to skiing and snowboarding, the Trikke is a stand up, on-snow device with little to no learning curve so even guests who have never been to the mountains can have fun carving through the snow.

MOUNTAIN HIGH NAMES JOSH CHAUVET ACTION SPORTS MANAGER

Mountain High is proud to name Josh Chauvet its new Action Sports Manager.  This role serves a dual purpose as he oversees both the mountain’s Terrain Park program and the area’s events, promotions, and youth marketing.  Chauvet brings 15 years of industry experience as a competitor, builder and promoter. 

CRONK UNVEILS NEW “CRONK BONK” DECEMBER 5TH AT MOUNTAIN HIGH

Pro rider, Cory Cronk, will be unveiling his new feature, the Cronk Bonk, Saturday, December 5th, at Mountain High. This vertical jib is one of the more technical features ever built with two diagonal take offs popping up to a floating log stall. Starting at 10 feet high, the jib hides two hydraulic lifts which can easily raise the top up to 12 feet high adding to the difficulty and the danger.

MOUNTAIN HIGH OPENS FOR SKIING/SNOWBOARDING THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29TH
Mountain High Resort in Wrightwood will open tomorrow, October 29th, making this the 13th year in a row they have been the first resort to open in Southern California with top to bottom riding. This also marks the resort’s earliest opening ever on machine made snow.



MOUNTAIN HIGH WINS NATIONAL SKI AREA ASSOCIATION’S 2009 SAFETY AWARD
Mountain High is the proud recipient of the National Ski Area Association’s (NSAA) 2009 Safety Award for Employee Involvement and Education.  The Safety Brigade, an initiative implemented in 2007, tours the mountain daily promoting helmet use, rewarding guests with good safety habits, and handing out pertinent information.



MOUUNTAIN HIGH RELEASES NEW IPHONE APPLICATION NOVEMBER 15th, 2009
Smart phones are quickly becoming the primary method of personal communication, providing users with the traditional functions of a phone plus the advanced features of a hand-held computer. Through application programs, the cell phone has become an increasingly important tool not only for business practices but for downloading music, finding the cheapest gas, or locating the nearest waffle house.



FAULTLINE CREATES NEW FEATURES, EXPANDS NATURAL TERRAIN, AND ADD FOUR NEW GROOMING MACHINES
At Mountain High nearly the entire West Resort is dedicated to the park, and this season snowboarders will find more than 15 new boxes and rails to ride plus signature jibs from MFM and Cory Cronk and natural features in both the Gulch and The Reef. Mountain High has also equipped its park crew with four new, specially-designed park cats from Prinoth to ensure these new elements are groomed to perfection.




EL NINO DELIVERS SNOW TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, PAST AND PRESENT
Southern California is on track for a tremendous snow year if recent El Nino reports hold true. Mountain High’s 12 year average is 141 inches per season, but snow reports show a whopping 278 inches during the last El Nino in 2004/05, and a record breaking 310 inches in 1997/98.




$41 MILLION INVESTED IN A DECADE OF IMPROVEMENTS
As temperatures cool and Southern Californians trade their swim trunks for sweatshirts, resorts like Mountain High anxiously await opening day so they can unveil their litany of seasonal improvements. New terrain features, increased snowmaking and four new Prinoth Bison Park Cats top this season’s list, but investing millions in infrastructure is nothing new to Mountain High. Over the past 10 years they have spent more than $41 Million on everything from new lifts to remodeled base lodges to even a new resort.




SNOWMAKING BEGINS AT MOUNTAIN HIGH
Snowmaking began at Mountain High Sunday night and resort operators plan to continue making snow whenever possible until open. This is the earliest Mountain High has made snow in its history and it is all due to recent advancements in snowmaking technology.




MOUNTAIN HIGH SEASON PASS PARTY AND ATHLETE INTRODUCTION, FRIDAY, AUGUST 28TH
Mountain High kicks off its 09.10 Season Pass sale with a winter festival Friday, August 28th, at the Vans Skatepark @ The Block in Orange. Entrance is free to everyone from 4pm to 10pm and highlights include the premiere of MFM’s new movie Hard To Earn, autographs from MFM, Louie Vito, and the Technine Crew, and pictures with Miss Mountain High.

MOUNTAIN HIGH SIGNS MARC FRANK MONTOYA AND LOUIE VITO
Mountain High, CA, announced this week it has signed Mark Frank Montoya (MFM) and Louie Vito to its pro team, and promoted hometown rider Cory Cronk. In addition the resort has added close to 25 new features to its park program including signature jibs from MFM and Cronk.
